Litoral Sparkle:

50% Acrylic, 45% Polyamide and 5% Metallic Polyester

3.5 oz = 110 yards – 1 ball

7 mm needles

Gauge:
3 stitches per inch with 7 – 8  mm needles

Finished Measurements:
Length: 51"

Pattern notes:

K – knit.

P – purl.

K2tog – knit 2 together.

SSK – slip, slip, knit.

M1 – make 1 increase.

Cast on 3 stitches.

Row 1: K1, M1, K1, M1, K1.

Rows 2 and all even rows: Purl.

Row 3: K1, M1, K3, M1, K1.

Row 5: K1, M1, K5, M1, K1.

Row 7: K1, M1, K7, M1, K1.

Row 9: K1, M1, K9, M1, K1.

Row 11, 13: Knit.

Row 15: K1, K2tog, K7, SSK, K1.

Row 17: K1, K2tog, K5, SSK, K1.

Work in stockinette stitch for 42".

3.0 mm double point needles

Gauge:
23 stitches X 30 rows = 4" X 4"
Finished Measurements – Small:
Head circumference: 18"

Length: 9"

Finished Measurements – Large:
Head circumference: 21"

Length: 9"

With A, cast on 100 stitches and place 25 stitches on each of four needles.

For a large size, cast on 120 stitches, 30 stitches on each needles.

The rest of the pattern is the same for both sizes.

Join into a round, being careful not to twist stitches.
Rounds 1-7: *p3,k1 - repeat from * to end.

From now, work all stitches as a knit stitch.

For the next 15 rows, you will work 2 colors at the same time.

Alpaca "Roll it" cowl - free pattern

This is my new pattern that includes very basic knitting stitches.

 

  
Materials:
Alpaca drops, 100% pure Alpaca, color 0618 (50g = 167m) - 2 balls
3.5 mm needle
Gauge:
23 stitches X 30 rows = 4" X 4"

Finished Measurements:
Length: 9.5"
Width: 27"

Cast on 132 stitches.

Rib pattern:
Rows 1-12: *k2, p2 - repeat from * to end.
 Row 14: *p1, k1 - repeat from * to end.
Rows 15-32: repeat last two rows.

"Make a hole" pattern:
Row 33: k1, *k2tog, yo - repeat from * to last stitch, k1.Row 34: Purl.
Row 35: Knit.
Row 36: Purl.
Rows 37-40: repeat last four rows.

Seed pattern:
Rows 41-60: repeat the two rows of seed pattern.

Rib pattern:
Rows 61-72: repeat the two rows of rib pattern.
Bind off. Hold the piece with two hands and roll it to opposite directions. Sew side seams.

That's it!

As you can see it will look differently every time.

Busy June!

Wow I feel like June was all over the place so I'll start from the beginning.

June 2nd – my husband and I had our first anniversary. The day before he had he's last exam so I didn't think he planned something. But we ended up having a message and dinner in a really nice Barcelona restaurant.

June 11th – My mommy came to Barcelona to visit me for 7 days. First I thought I'll go crazy having my mom around 24/7 but it was so cool. We visited all the touristic places of Barcelona, did shopping every day and ate good food. The best part was that my mom made us a Russian home cook food!

June 22nd – short jump to London to visit our friends. The city is beautiful but why is it has to be so cold? 14 degrees and rain? It's end of June people, it suppose to be summer! I guess I won't move to live there any time soon. But… Never say never, right?

Now on a more professional note…
I started a new basic knitting session and I'm so excited. I can see myself in my students. I also started once with knit and purl stitches, basic scarf and then I wanted to discover more and more. Yesterday we went to a yarn shop and when they could not decide what to buy because they wanted everything, I knew…It's for life.

Meetup is the world's largest network of local groups and it's a place where you can join groups in your city based on your interests. For example, I joined a book club, cooking group and intercambio (to improve my Spanish). Every group organizes her own meetings.

Yana's Lace shawl - Free pattern

The last time I was home, I found an old knitting book in Russian that belonged to my grandmother. I think that the book was published before 1960. It is old and torn but that's the beauty of it.

So much inspiration in one book!

Yana's lace shawl pattern:

Materials:
Katia, Brisa cotton, color 37 (50g = 125m) - 3 balls

3.75 mm circular needle
4.00 mm circular needle
Stitch markers

Finished Measurements:
Lower edge circumference: 20"
Upper edge circumference: 40"
Length: 11.5"

 
Notes:
SSK - sl 1 knitwise, sl 1 knitwise, enter left needle into front of slipped stitches and knit them together.
K2tog - knit 2 stitches together.
SK2P - sl 1 knitwise, k2tog, pass slipped stitch over.
K3tog - knit 3 stitches together.YO - yarn over.
PM - place marker.

Lace pattern:
Round 1, 3, 5, 7: p1, ssk, k2, yo, k1, yo, k2, k2tog.
Round 2 and all even-numbered rounds: Knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches. Work yo as a knit stitch.
Round 9: k1, yo, ssk, k5, k2tog, yo.
Round 11: (yo, ssk) twice, k3, k2tog, yo, k1.
Round 13: k1, (yo, ssk) twice, k1, (k2tog, yo) twice.
Round 15: k2, yo, ssk, yo, sk2p, yo, k2tog, yo, k1.
Round 17: k3, yo, ssk, k1, k2tog, yo, k2.
Round 19: k4, yo, sk2p, yo, k3.
Round 20: Work as round 2.

Cast on 270 stitches. Join into a round, being careful not to twist the stitches.

Set up round: (k30, pm, k60, pm) - 3 times. Use a different color for your last marker so you'll know the beginning of round.

On the 30 stitches, work the lace pattern 3 times.

On the 60 stitches work as follow:
Round 1 and all odd-numbered rounds: k1, ssk, (k1, p1) - to last 3 stitches, k2tog, k1.
Round 2 and all even-numbered rounds: Knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches.

Work the lace pattern 3 times. After 60 rounds you'll have: 90 stitches of the lace pattern with one stitch in between - 93 stitches.
You can take out all the markers but not the last one - beginning of round.

Work in round:
Round 1and 2: Knit.
Round 3: [k3tog, k1, (yo, k1), (2 yo, k1), (3 yo, k1), (2 yo, k1), (yo, k1)] to end of round.
Round 4: Knit the knit stitches, loose the yo.
Round 5 and 6: Knit.

Change to 4mm needles. Bind off very loosely. Weave the ends. Block.
